Social Studies
Today we learned about the 8th amendment. The 8th amendment is about people having unsual or cruel punisment. If you go on a red light, and they put you in jail and hang you, the police can't do that.
Reading
We practed on main ideas. A main idea is the main idea of the passage.
Language
We still wrote a reflecting piece of the our memoral time.
Math
We learned about customary untis of capacity. Heres are the units of capacity
1 Cup= 8 fluid ounces
1 pint= 2 cups
1 quart= 2 pints
1 gallon = 4 quarts

Social Studies
Today we learned about the 6th amendment. The 6th amendment is about having a fair trial. The judge can't say ''you can't have a lawyer'', or they can't syay your guilty once you get in the jury room.
Reading
We were still learning about The Tuskegge Airmen. They were a couple of black people that became airmen in World War 2.
Language
What we kept on writing our compesission of writing of a memorable time
Math
Today we learned how to find a volume of a figure. To find the volume of a figure is to mulpiply the lenght, the width, and the height. For example the height of the figure is 10 the width is 4 and the lenght is 5. The volume will be 200.
Science
Today was Mad Science! In Mad Science we learned about colors. The 3 primary colors are Red, Blue, and Yellow. We also learned about the colors of the rainbow

If they ask if they can come in your house, you could say no. BUt i they get a search warrent then they have to come in your house. The 5th Amendment allows you not to say something while in court that will offend you or something. If they ask you a question that you don't like you don't have to answer.

We watched a Magic School Bus Video about rocks.

Social Studies
So in Social Studies, we went to the computer lab. What we did in the computer lab, is we are working on a constitution brochure. In the brochure were puting the bill of rights, the important amendments, and he put our founding fathers. Such as George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferon, James Madison and Rodger Sherman.
Reading
For reading, we worked on our National Geographic posters. I finsihed mine today. Also we worked on Adjectives. We learned that it supposed to be with a linking verb

Today in Math learned how to find the area of a triangle. All you have to do is multiply the base and the height and divide it by 2.

2-8-2011
Okay today I have done something to my dad really upsetting. So I'm gonna show him what I learned in the everyday in school. Another reason why I'm doing this is to teach younger kids about things.
Lets start off with my school. I'm in 5th Grade. I go to Settlers Way Elementary School (SWE)
My teachers are Ms. Guzman ( homeroom), and Ms DeMont ( switch teacher). My favorite subject is Social Studies (epically the History part) and my least favorite subject is Reading. Lets start off what happened today.
Social Studies
For Social Studies where are learning about the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights is the first 10 amendments in the constitution. Today we only learned about the first 2 amendments. The first amendment in the constitution is every ones freedom. The freedoms that I'm talking about is the Freedom of speech, Freedom of religious and Freedom of press. Freedom of Speech has limits. For this freedom you are not allowed to hurt/harm others worth this. For example if you say '' shoot him'' and shoot him and the police come you can't just say '' Well its Freedom of speech!'' When they mean is you can say that your are Catholic, Christan, or something else. Freedom of religious is that in some countries you HAVE to be a specific religion. In some countries if your practing your own religion then you'll get beten up. Freedom of Press is like you can't put in a magazine or book, about celeberties or famous people that are not true about them. If your caught of saying a lie of a celebirty and the celebirty finds out. Then they can both go to Court and the celebirty can sue you. The 2nd Amendment is mainly about people having guns. You can have a gun unless its not loaded really. But if a criminal breaks into your house you can shoot them. You have the right for people to stay out of your property. Your not allowed to play around with guns and just shoot people just for fun or even on accident. If you get caught doing that then you'll get send the jail most probably.

Today in reading we really didn't learn anything. But we did learn that the main idea is not always in the beginging. It could be in end, the middle or it might not even say it at all

Today we went to Mad Science. Mad Science is where we go to every Tuesday to learn some Science. We learned about Dried Ice today. Dried Ice is like Ice but its easier to break. DriedIce has the 3 states of matter in it: Solid, Liquid, and Gas. If you lick Dried Ice than your tounge WILL stick. If you touch Dried Ice your hands will get a blister. Dried Ice is so cold that it could burn your hand If you put water on dry ice then the dry ice will get fizzy.

Today during math we learned about how to find the area of a square and a rectangle.
To find the area you have to multiply the width and length. To find the area of a square you have to multiply the sides. To find the area of a rectangle, you have to multipy length and the width. For example what is the area of the rectangle? The width is 42 and the length is 13. The area will be 546.
And thats all we learned and did today.
